Fragmentation
March 21st, 2007Psychic fragmentation leads to extremes in experiences. Violent conduct almost always is related to some fragmentation in an emotional or psychological state. People who have become traumatized by some particular event become fragmented. As a result, they operate in a fragmented way.
The opposite of fragmentation is integration or unification, where each of the various parts of our human experience is in some way unified or integrated over time. It is axiomatic that the least fragmented of us is the most unified, or integrated. We look to have an experience that unifies us at a vertical level with a spiritual dimension of value and humanness.
Fragmentation can occur at an individual level, but it can also occur at a cultural level. That is why, in some instances, you may have whole groups of people who continue to remain incredibly violent, while others are much more pacific.
