John Edwards
August 21st, 2008You know, as I watched the Edwards tragedy unfold, I kept targeting back to a column I read some time ago syndicated by the Washington Post and written by Kathleen Parker, one of my favorite columnists.
The article didn’t deal with a character issue, but it certainly had questions. She kept thinking, “What was he looking at?” What was he looking at, indeed?
While the article was ostensively about vanity and, of course, just a wee bit of political commentary about Senator Edwards, it was far more substantially a perceptive observation about what could potentially be a fundamental character flaw which manifested in that type of particular behavior.
I looked back into my archives to pull out the article and I am attaching it here, because I obviously think it is particularly prescient in light of current events. Take a look at the article and I think you’ll see what I’m talking about.
