He uses the concept of “the thing itself,” actually taken from what Emmanuel Kant a century ago called “the thing in itself” to represent the inherent truth behind the phenomena. These days, it’s the noise, clutter and what I call, from time to time, free radicals.
He’s using it to identify the core truth about three separate areas president-elect Obama is going to have to deal with once he’s in office. Take a read.
